Taliyah Henderson, a standout five-star recruit from the Class of 2025, announced her commitment to the University of North Carolina on Friday, solidifying her future with the Tar Heels. The 6 ‘1 wing from Salpointe Catholic, made her decision after carefully weighing offers from several prestigious programs, including Arizona, Michigan, USC, UConn, Tennessee, and others.
Henderson’s choice to join North Carolina is a significant addition to the Tar Heels’ already strong recruiting efforts. Known for her versatility and athleticism on the court, Henderson is highly regarded for her ability to impact the game on both ends. Her commitment represents a major win for UNC as they continue to build a powerhouse program.
Ranked as the No. 21 prospect in the Class of 2025 by ESPN, Henderson’s decision is expected to have a lasting impact on the future of North Carolina women’s basketball. With her combination of size, skill, and basketball IQ, she is poised to be a key contributor when she arrives on campus.
Henderson is one of my favorite prospects as I have been following her career since her freshman year. She was a standout player even as a freshman at my 1st Annual GC3 Hoops Summer Invitational and 1st Annual Tremendous 24 Fall Team Showcase. Although she’s rehabbing from a knee injury this season, Henderson will make a quick recovery and huge impact at the next level.
I’m thrilled to continue watching her career unfold at UNC. Henderson brings a wealth of talent and intangibles to the table, making her a game-changer for the Tar Heels. Her Olympic-level athleticism is paired with exceptional defensive skills, both on and off the ball. She’s a proven winner with a championship pedigree, consistently demonstrating strong leadership and a commanding presence on the floor.
Henderson is vocal on both ends, directing traffic and motivating her teammates. She can handle the ball pretty well, complemented by a high basketball IQ that allows her to read the game and make smart decisions. Offensively, she’s a dynamic threat—able to attack the rim with ferocity, finish through contact, and dissect defenses with her playmaking abilities. Her mid-range scoring is another asset, making her a versatile and complete player who can contribute in multiple ways. The addition of Henderson for the Tar Heels put them into National Title Conversation.
