One of the most electrifying combo guards in the 2023 class has chosen to stay close to home at Mesa Community College. Ashiian Hunter was a force over her last four years at Mesa High School. Hunter has a nice skill set as she has a solid IQ and great feel for the game.
In the games I watched her play, Hunter tore up opposing defenses displaying her three level scoring ability. Her offensive skill set can be described as a stick of dynamite as she would just explode on opponents by attacking the basket, hitting mid and long range shots. Defensively, she relies on her cat-like quickness and anticipation to read passing lanes to scoop up steals.
Her toughness on both ends of the floor should propel her to a successful career in the ultra competitive ACCAC. I am excited to continue to follow her JUCO career as she looks to prove herself to four year coaches who overlooked her in her high school career. I am confident she will compete at the next level.
