At just 11 years old, Olivia Fish is already proving to be a shining example of dedication, passion, and ambition. A 6th grader with a love for basketball, Olivia’s journey began when she was only five years old. She fondly recalls the moment that sparked her passion: “I was dribbling the ball one day, and then I began to enjoy and watch basketball ever since. What I really like about basketball is how you have to push yourself, the opportunity to play on a team, and the chance to build connections.”
Now a key player for the AZ Sunrays in Peoria, Arizona, Olivia has set her sights on a bright future in the sport. Her favorite position to play is point guard, a role that allows her to both assist her teammates and showcase her scoring ability. “I love playing point guard because I can learn how to get the ball to my teammates, but I also love scoring the ball,” Olivia explains. “I’m working hard to learn how to drive to the basket because I feel like I have the skills to be successful in that area.”
Olivia’s favorite basketball player is none other than NBA superstar Stephen Curry. She admires his confidence and his incredible shooting ability, saying, “When I watch him play, it teaches me how important practicing is.” Inspired by Curry’s example, Olivia is committed to putting in the time and effort to improve her skills.
Her dreams extend far beyond the basketball court. Olivia envisions playing basketball through high school and college while also pursuing a career in the medical field. Her interest in helping others is evident not only in her career aspirations but also in the way she approaches her role as a teammate. “I love to motivate my teammates and encourage others to reach their full potential,” she shares.
Outside of basketball, Olivia is a vibrant and creative individual with a variety of interests. She enjoys playing the piano and experimenting with other musical instruments, as well as building with LEGOs and exploring her imagination. A natural athlete, Olivia loves playing outside with friends, running, and staying active.
When asked how she would describe herself, Olivia confidently states, “Hardworking. I like to push myself a lot.” Her dedication is evident in her commitment to her team, the AZ Sunrays, where she is continually improving her ball-handling skills and learning new aspects of the game. “Playing on the Sunrays is helping me to learn a lot about basketball, and I love my team,” she says.For Olivia, basketball is more than just a sport—it’s a way to grow, connect with others, and pursue her goals. Her wish is simple yet profound: to find joy in whatever she chooses to do in life and to work hard to achieve her dreams. With her positive attitude, strong work ethic, and unyielding determination, there’s no doubt that Olivia Fish has a bright future ahead—on and off the court.
