Spring is often a time of transition within the high school coaching landscape, and this year is no different. With great enthusiasm, I am proud to announce that Peoria High School has officially named Dawn Bennett as the new Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball program.
Historically, Peoria High has seen frequent changes in its coaching staff, but the school sits in a community rich with basketball talent and tradition. The appointment of Coach Bennett marks a turning point—ushering in stability, experience, and a championship mindset to Panther Nation.
Coach Bennett brings an impressive resume to the position. During her tenure as the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Deer Valley, she amassed a remarkable 100-20 record. Under her leadership, the team secured three region championships, reached the 4A Final Four, made two Open Division appearances, and earned multiple coaching honors including 4A Region Coach of the Year, West Valley Coach of the Year, and 4A Co-Conference Coach of the Year.
Beyond her on-court success, Coach Bennett is known for her ability to develop talent and prepare student-athletes for the next level. She has helped numerous players move on to compete at NCAA Division II, III, NAIA, and junior college programs.
With her high-energy, uptempo system and proven leadership, I fully expect Coach Bennett to unify the program and elevate the Panthers to new heights. This is a major step forward for Peoria High, and I’m excited to follow their journey as they gear up for what promises to be an exciting winter season.
