One of the top 2023 sleeper prospects in Micayla Silas commits to Cochise College. Silas was sidelined for the 2022-2023 season due to a knee injury. Although injured, Silas was a force her junior year for the Jackrabbits as she averaged 8.4 points/game, 2.2 assists/game, 5.4 rebounds/game, and 2.5 steals/game. This prospect has microwave type scoring ability as she heats up quickly and can score at all three levels. As a wing player, Silas can pose matchup nightmares for opponents due to her length, IQ, and playmaking ability.
I was able to watch her during her club season her junior year, and she quickly caught the attention of college coaches and scouts with her playmaking ability. Defensively she utilizes her cat-like quickness to disrupt passing lanes to snag steals. She looks to push the pace offensively and thrives in transition. Silas’ best basketball is ahead of her and if she can continue to polish and develop her game, she will be a big catch for a four year school after completing her JUCO career. As I continue to cover the ACCAC, I will be monitoring her progress for the 2023-2024 season.
