The 2023 GC3 Hoops Summer Invitational tipped off on Friday, June 9 at Poston Butte High School. The event was well attended by major media outlets and local college coaches. New for this year’s event was the addition of separate brackets based on teams records and MaxPreps Rankings, two out of state teams from Oklahoma and New Mexico. This player recap will have multiple parts as there were a lot of talented athletes competing. Here are some of the performers who stood out part 1:
Ari Gamillo 2027 5-10 Wing Sahuarita
Gamillo has a great platform and upside. She has the length and guard skills to play the perimeter. Gamillo is athletic, and can shoot the long ball. I expect her recruitment to heat up as she continues to develop. One of Southern Arizona’s best kept secrets.
Clara-Mae Hrouch (pictured) 2025 5-3 Point Guard Catalina Foothills
Hrouch is another sleeper prospect that colleges should be keeping their eye on. She is a solid floor general with good decision-making. Another product of the AZ Supreme Club Program, Hrouch has a tight handle and three level scoring ability. A solid low major prospect with tremendous upside!
Dylan Swindle 2025 5-6 Shooting Guard Desert Vista
Swindle has one of the smoothest shooting strokes. One of the elite snipers in the state. She has a nice release and can hit from deep. Swindle’s role will be expanded as she will be one of the go-to scorers in the Thunder’s quest to repeat as Open Division Champs. Her microwave-like scoring ability makes her recruiting stock skyrocket!
Jada Brown 2024 5-10 Forward Window Rock
Brown is an inside force anchoring Window Rock’s front court. She knows how to use her size to bully opponents on the inside to get to the basket and finish. Brown defends and rebounds which makes her a double-double threat night in and night out. I expect her to have a huge senior campaign this upcoming winter.
Symirah Gray (pictured) 2025 5-5 Point Guard Poston Butte
Gray is one of my favorite sleeper prospects as she is an excellent floor general who defends, scores, and gets her teammates involved. The Broncos are looking to repeat as region champs. Coach Savannah Bix has built an amazing culture and Gray is one of her products of that culture which makes the Broncos instant contenders in 4A.
