This was my first time attending the Gems in the Gym: Spring 150 Event. I know anytime Kameo Williams puts together an event, there is a lot of talent in the building. The Spring 150 is more than a showcase as staff put together an amazing curriculum where athletes were put through athletic and skills training, basketball game situational drills, and controlled scrimmaging.
The most impressive attribute of this event was the positive energy, talk, praise, and environment. I also enjoyed seeing the alumni of this platform be involved to include Harper Peterson (Standford Signee) and Juju Alexander (Retired Pro). Here are some of the top prospects who caught my attention (I wish I could have wrote up so much more as there were a lot in attendance):
AJ Mason JUCO FR 5’11 Wing Solano College
Mason is an intriguing prospect with division 1 athletic ability. She is a three level scorer with an extra potent midrange. I like her quick first step, athleticism and toughness. I can’t say enough great things about this prospect. I know her next landing spot will be very lucky to have her in the program. A great kid who is coachable and phenomenal work ethic.
Amy Nduka 2028 6’3 Post Eastside Catholic (WA)
Nduka is an impressive prospect with a great post skillset. She has a good IQ and makes the right play at the right time. Nduka plays within the system and is extremely coachable. I anticipate for her recruiting to skyrocket as I project her to be a high major prospect as she has a high ceiling. College coaches I’d advise you to get this young lady on your radar now.
Ashanti Davis 2024 5’2 Point Guard Archbishop Riordan
Davis is a crafty and shifty point guard who has a tight handle and smooth moves to get downhill to either finish or distribute. She competes hard on both ends of the floor and can score from all three levels. She is still one of the best 2024s left on the board who can make a significant impact for a college program.
Hailey Monte 2025 5’5 Guard Gladstone
Monte jumped out at me as a high IQ combo guard who has great skills. A very smart and crafty player, Monte uses her skill set to create offensive opportunities for herself or her teammates. She can score from all three levels and can defend. One of the better under the radar prospects.
Jada Ikharo 2024 5’9 Wing Manteca
Ikharo is an athletic wing who plays physically on both ends of the floor. She has great finishing ability and knows how to use her body to finish through or absorb contact. A physical and athletic wing with tremendous upside. I am surprised she is still on the board.
Jaylee Moore 2027 6’1 Center Caruthers
Moore is just grazing the surface of her potential. A traditional center who utilizes her size to bulldoze the opposition on both ends of the floor. Moore has great low post scoring ability, protects the paint, and cleans the glass. I anticipate her recruitment to skyrocket into the spring. She currently holds an offer from the University of San Francisco.
Kendall Dawkins 2028 6’0 Forward Twality
Dawkins impressed as a skilled combo forward who has the guard skills to play the perimeter and the toughness and athletic ability to play in the paint. Dawkins is another up and coming prospect with tremendous upside. I like her foundation and I know she will develop into a solid college prospect over time.
Leah Sarabia 2024 5’10 Point Guard Leuzinger
Sarabia is one of my favorite sleepers still available in the 2024 class. She has great length and athletic ability. Sarabia knows how to utilize her length and athleticism on both ends of the floor. She has a tight handle and can distribute pretty well. Colleges needing a reliable true point guard should put Sarabia on your radar as she is one of the better available 2024s still on the board.
Londyn Dyton 2027 5’7 Guard Benson (OR)
Dyton was one of my favorite prospects of the event. She is an athletic and aggressive guard that strikes unsuspecting opponents with her explosive first step. A three level scorer that can also facilitate. I also like her ability to lockup on the defensive end. Dyton’s stock is on the upward trend, I suggest college coaches get involved early!
Simdi Chukwu 2025 5’8 Guard Bishop O’Dowd
Chukwu did not disappoint as she competed at a high level on both ends of the floor. She is an athletic guard who can lockup opponents on both ends of the floor. She uses her explosive athleticism to get downhill to attack the basket. Another under the radar prospect with tremendous upside!
