TUCSON, Ariz. — One of Southern Arizona’s most dynamic scorers is staying home. Pueblo High School guard America Cazares has officially committed to play for Pima Community College, giving head coach Todd Holthaus and his staff a major in-state addition to their 2025 recruiting class.
Cazares has made a name for herself as one of the premier guards in the region, known for her fearless scoring ability and clutch shot-making. She thrives at getting downhill, attacking the basket with confidence, and can score at all three levels. Whether it’s pulling up in transition, creating off the dribble, or knocking down big shots in crunch time, Cazares consistently finds ways to put points on the board.
For Pima, landing Cazares is a big win. Holthaus has built one of the top junior college programs in the country, and adding a prolific scorer like her fits perfectly into the program’s fast-paced, aggressive style of play. Her ability to generate instant offense and compete at a high level will give the Aztecs a strong backcourt presence from day one.
This commitment not only keeps a local standout home but also highlights Pima’s continued success in recruiting top Southern Arizona talent. Cazares’ scoring prowess and competitive fire will make her an exciting player to watch at the next level — and a key piece in the Aztecs’ push for championships.
