The road to an AIA Open Division championship is never easy, but the Hamilton Huskies have assembled a core group that has all the ingredients necessary to compete for Arizona’s ultimate prize.

At the heart of Hamilton’s title aspirations is what many are calling the “Furious Five” — a talented, battle-tested group consisting of senior point guard Izzy Anderson, junior shooting guard Destinee Benway, sophomore guard Romaya Farrington, and transfer forwards Serenity Hampton and Amaya Rodgers.

This unit brings a rare combination of skill, toughness, versatility, and chemistry that makes them one of the most dangerous starting groups in the state.

Anderson serves as the floor general and emotional leader of the Huskies. The senior point guard controls tempo, creates opportunities for teammates, and consistently makes winning plays in crucial moments. Her experience and leadership provide the foundation for Hamilton’s success.

Alongside her is Benway, one of Arizona’s most explosive perimeter threats. The junior shooting guard has the ability to stretch defenses well beyond the three-point line while also attacking closeouts and creating offense for herself and others.

Farrington gives Hamilton another dynamic playmaker in the backcourt. Despite being just a sophomore, she plays with the confidence and maturity of a veteran. Her ability to pressure opposing guards, get downhill, and impact both ends of the floor makes her one of the state’s rising stars.

The addition of transfer forwards Serenity Hampton and Amaya Rodgers elevates Hamilton to another level. Both players bring length, athleticism, and versatility that allow the Huskies to switch defensively, dominate the glass, and create matchup problems throughout the lineup.

What separates this group from many others is their commitment to defense. The Furious Five can pressure the basketball, disrupt passing lanes, and guard multiple positions. Their collective defensive intensity often fuels their offense, creating transition opportunities where they thrive.

Offensively, they are equally dangerous. They can attack the rim with force, finish through contact, and collapse defenses with relentless downhill pressure. When opponents pack the paint, Hamilton has the shooting to make them pay. Every member of the group is capable of knocking down perimeter shots, making the Huskies a nightmare matchup for opposing defenses.

Perhaps most importantly, this group genuinely plays as a unit. There is no concern about individual statistics or personal accolades. Their chemistry, trust, and willingness to make the extra pass have become trademarks of Hamilton basketball.

With talent, depth, experience, and a championship mindset, the Hamilton Huskies’ Furious Five enter the season as one of the premier groups in Arizona girls basketball. If they continue to develop and stay connected, don’t be surprised to see Hamilton making a deep postseason run and competing for an AIA Open Division Championship when March arrives.

GC3 Hoops will continue to monitor Hamilton throughout the season as one of Arizona’s premier contenders.
