The GC3 Hoops Next Up Series highlights under the radar prospects who possess tremendous upside. I like to call it gem hunting (In respect to my guy Mr. Gems In The Gym Kameo Williams). I was able to attend Kam’s Fresh Faces event a few weeks ago out in my 2nd hoops home of Oakland, California. Again shout out to Kam as he does a lot of heavy digging for me to make it easier to uncover some of the best up and coming gems.

Throughout the event, one player who increasingly caught my attention was 2028 guard Andrea Porreca. I was particularly excited to learn that she is from Hawaii, just like me, and attends my alma mater, Kamehameha-Kapalama—a school with a rich history of a strong women’s basketball program. The program is currently led by fellow alumna Pua Furtado-Straight (’09), who has continued to build on that legacy. Porreca is emerging as a leader for the next generation of talented Island Hoops prospects, and her performance at the event did not disappoint. She showcased the skills and potential that make her a prospect to keep an eye on in the years to come.

Porreca is an exceptional guard prospect with the versatility to excel at both the point guard and shooting guard positions. She possesses a strong handle on the ball, allowing her to control the offense effectively while facilitating plays for her teammates. Her ability to finish at the rim adds another layer to her game, making her a consistent scoring threat. What truly stands out is her competitive spirit—Porreca is relentless on both ends of the floor, consistently stepping up to make an impact defensively as well as offensively. With her current skill set and continued development, Porreca is poised for a promising future.

I agree. I have see Porreca play and take over games. Shes tough and a good distributor.
