Eastern Arizona College continues to build on its championship foundation with the addition of Ahnastaziah Wright, a 5’10 guard/forward out of Honolulu, Hawai‘i, who brings a unique blend of athleticism, toughness, and versatility to the Gila Monsters program.

Wright starred at Punahou School, one of Hawai‘i’s premier programs, where she developed into one of the most intriguing under-the-radar prospects in the state. On the club circuit, she competed with Lightning Basketball Club, further showcasing her all-around skillset and competitive edge. She also earned selection to the GC3 Stars Polynesian All-Star Team, competing in the prestigious Tribe Athletics Native American Nationals over the last two years — gaining valuable national exposure against top competition.

On the court, Wright is the definition of a “swiss army knife” — a player who impacts the game in multiple ways on both ends. Offensively, she thrives as a slashing guard, using her strength and physicality to attack downhill and finish through contact. Her ability to bully her way to the rim and convert in traffic makes her a constant pressure point for opposing defenses.

Defensively is where Wright truly separates herself. She is one of the toughest defenders in her class, capable of picking up full court and applying relentless pressure for all 94 feet. At the same time, she has the strength and toughness to battle in the paint, protecting the rim and holding her own against bigger players. That rare versatility allows her to guard all five positions — making her an invaluable piece for any system.

Eastern Arizona is coming off a NJCAA Division I National Championship and now looks to reload for another run. Adding Wright fits perfectly with the program’s identity — tough, disciplined, and defensive-minded. Her grit, motor, and defensive tenacity will immediately elevate next year’s roster.

Looking ahead, Wright’s trajectory is extremely promising. With continued development and increased national exposure at the junior college level, she projects as a strong mid-major Division I prospect. Her versatility, physical tools, and defensive instincts give her a high ceiling and make her one of the best available prospects out of Hawai‘i.

Eastern Arizona didn’t just add talent — they added toughness, competitiveness, and a player built for winning.
